I love my practice and my clients. Each day is different and unique. People tell me all the time, "I couldn't do what you do". That comment always surprises me because I get to see people change. They often come in at their lowest place in their life and after therapy, feel more hopeful and are able to make the changes in their lives that they have only thought about for so long. I feel honored to be part of that process.
I have such diversity in my practice. On a given day, I could see a woman, man, couple, a family, a set of siblings, a child, or parents. Every client needs their own unique approach and working to understand and create that approach is a creative challenge. I admire and respect my clients for the courage they have to take the step to reach out and make the phone call, actually come in, and challenge themselves and trust me to challenge them to actually make changes.
I have a heart for change in people who are struggling. I am a pure Marriage and Family Therapist - both my master's degree and my Ph.D are in Marriage and Family Therapy, which is a little unusual. I have served on the Michigan Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) Board in MI and worked as the Executive Administrator for the board in Kansas. Everyone in this field has made a personal decision to pursue it because of what it represents: Healthy relationships, healthy families, healthy couples, healthy individuals - less pain, more growth.
